GARDEN CONSULTATION
Starting a Garden from "Square One":
This program is for those of you that want to learn, but have no idea how to start a garden. The initial on-site consultation involves discussing garden size, location, next steps, vegetable/fruit selection, and weed suppression. Subsequent visits are at your request as needed. This also includes a monthly e-mail about expectations, potential challenges for the month.
"As Needed" Garden Help:
There are gardeners that know the basics, but once the pests and diseases begin to impact their crops, they don't know how to identify and treat their garden organically to maximize your harvest. Some gardeners need help identifying weeds as compared to plants. We would encourage you to spot weeding regularly and provide you identification as well provide you with organic methods to eliminate these pests. This also includes a monthly e-mail about expectations, potential challenges for the month. We can also consult with you about season extension techniques so that you can grow produce for a longer period.
Starting Your Plants from Seeds:
We will help you not only start your seeds so that you have your own trays of plants, but also help you learn how to save your own seeds to save cost and to preserve your favorite varieties without working with seed companies. Seed starting is best in March in Michigan, seed saving can occur all year.
PLOT RENTAL
Plots are rented in 10' X 10' increments. They are in full sun areas of the garden close to the house. If you are looking for something larger, just multiply :) Plot rental involves the initial preparation of the plot. Rental does not include planning, maintenance, weeding and watering as they are primarily the responsibility of the renter (even though I will potentially "spot check" to help out if possible).
